I consider the insides of a puppet almost more important than the outsides. This is what gives a performer maximum control over the puppet and makes a puppet worth using.
Very cool James! Any chance you’d be willing to go into a bit of detail about how that’s working? Do you just let the felt be the hinge? And how does the stipple sponge work? I’ve always seen people (and have done myself) put something on top over the fingers to give more control. What’s your process?

Sure. Basically there is no “hinge”. The mouthplate just pulls the foam jaws up and down. The black piece at the top is actually a piece of very stiff, porous reticulated foam to give some extra gripping power and the foam “cup” looking piece forms a very comfortable surrounding for the hand to slide in to.
Whoa! Okay, I didn’t notice the foam was separate from the head. Cool! Thanks!
One more question, if I may, what do you use to surround the thumb? Another small foam cup?

Great job, as your usual 😉
