Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. My head has been spinning because of the deadline on this Avenue Q project and trying to juggle school work and life into that. I completed a few characters already and wanted to show them off. The designs are based off of Rick Lyon’s with some James Kemp tweaks that make them a little more special.
As you can see, Here is the Act 1 Princeton puppet with his hair so neatly styled and his clothes in order, and on the other hand is post-coital naked Princeton with his hair a wreck and of course, no clothes to be found!
Next is Rod, my personal favorite. Rod’s business suit looks fantastic and I LOVE the way his hair is styled. I did it using Elmer’s glue. It dries clear and leaves the hair nice and stiff.
For some reason I only have one picture of Nicky fully done, guess my mind was slipping when I was taking pictures.
Trekkie Monster was a bit of a challenge for me. I wanted him to be more different than the rest of the characters. I vacuum formed his nose and covered it in rubber. It’s a really nice look. Not to mention all the time I had to spend dying the ostrich feathers on his head. Please excuse my appearance, I pulled an all-nighter to have these puppets ready to be shipped out.
Kate wasn’t too much different from her Rick Lyon design. Only I made her look a bit less feminine and a bit more monster-ish. The skirt is a really nice touch.
Finally, we come to Lucy. Now, I don’t have any Lucy puppets quite done because her wigs have yet to come in. She will also have big full red lips. I love the eyes on this puppet. Quite different than anything I had done before. And the breasts for the puppet were a little different than what I am used to doing. It was a lot of fun though!
